][nquisitor Meridian Gelds Warband

“What is victory? Victory is not just to win and watch your foe limp from the battlefield. No. Victory is the total annihilation of your opponent. Everything and everyone they love, everywhere they’ve been and everyone they’ve influenced. All must be eradicated for you to have victory. Anything short of this and you invite retaliation. In our line of work this must never happen.

We find ourselves on this world because those that claim power over it have strayed from the light. The population they lord themselves over is down trodden and hope is fading fast. Opposition to the rule is quickly stamped out and it’s not done quietly either, the Government seem to think their power is absolute and no one can touch them. They have become drunk on their own greed and corruption, seeing themselves as gods whose words and actions can send millions into destitution. Caring not about the population that ultimately supports them they are power mad and evil. This my trusted friends must be stopped.

We will do what we always do and use whatever means necessary to accomplish our goals and ensure our victory. This world will come back into the fold and will once again prosper for the better of the Imperium as every world is a precious resource that the Imperium can ill afford to loose.

Our duty is clear. Total victory or death.”

Brother Vasin Grey. Black Shield. Chapter unknown.

This ticks off my first completed Inq28 warband for this year. It’s a pretty good feeling getting something completed this early in the year and I hope it sets the pace for the rest of it. Keeping the palette muted is a big factor in this and it’s a way I will probably paint many of my projects that follow.

Many people have asked me how I did the white so I’m going to share that with you here. It’s mostly drybrushing, which also adds to the speed in which I can get things done.

Primer – Grey Seer

Layer – Administratum Grey.

Drybrush – Grey Seer.

Drybrush – White Scar.

Wash – Soul Blight Grey.

Drybrush – White Scar.

Pretty simple and quick!

Horus Heresy Blood Angels I

The start of my Blood Angels HH army started with making some dice boxes. As is appropriate with Blood Angels the boxes are coffins. I bought the blank boxes from a craft store in town and then designed the inserts using CAD and 3D printing them in a lovely shiny red flexible material. I then filled the lid section with Blood Angel bits to make it look like a relic. All this was then painted with the usual red and gold.

The dice fit perfectly and because the material is flexible they are easy to get out but will not fall out. The ultimate goal of this project is to make a relic type box to store the army in along with these dice coffins and other gaming essentials. I have the parts now, so all I need is the drive and time. Keep watching this space!

A New Year. A New Start.

Well here we are again. A new year has just past us in a flash and it’s time once again to look ahead and make those changes you’ve always talked about and complete those hobby goals you’ve amassed year after year and will no doubt add to again this year. It’s all great fun though and that’s why it was a complete bummer when all hobby mojo left me at the end of last year. This was due to those pesky life problems and a good old dose of depression. But fear not! I am doing fine now and have started to get the hobby juices flowing again.

This post will hopefully layout the projects for this year and hopefully I will stick to them. I’m going to make a good effort in doing so as I think that’s one of the major driving forces for hobby satisfaction, the completion of a project. The projects listed below have all been started or have the models already to start. So here we go!

1: Realm of Warcry Nurgle Warband.

2: Inq28 Warbands. Inquisition and Genestealer Cults. Scenery

3: Horus Heresy Blood Angels.

4: Keeper of Secrets Greater Daemon of Slaanesh

5: Armies on Parade Dark Angles

6: Nobles of the Darkling Wood. Characters and Scenery

7: Frostgrave Warband for BOYL

8: Gorka Morka warbands and terrain

I think it’s a pretty doable list and I’m hoping it stays that way. Time will tell though and as we are all aware it only takes one new release model to throw it all into chaos 🙂

Lets now take look at some models!! Here we have the Inquisitor warband of Meridian Geld. There’s nothing particularly inspired by this group but it is a good old solid warband, with the usual suspects. All that is left to do is add a vehicle and paint them.

Next up we have my Nurgle Champion for Realm of Warcry. The very old and very dirty Bloabech Wormfinger Pallid Reaper of the Effluvient Mire.

Really quite pleased with this one and some of his followers are nearly finished as well. They are a group of Pestigors. Below is his stat card for playing the games.

Last but not least we have The Angels Tears for my Blood Angels Horus Heresy army. Loved these models from the moment they came out and wanted to do a good job on them. I’m quite proud of the red armour.

Well that’s it for now but the aim is to get a few posts done a month so I can document my progress and share wip shots with you all. Until next time!

Vulmor Dret- 9 Vudax

Vulmor Dret-9 Vudax looked pleased with himself. Morde’rya had just returned with two more pitiful Stewards. The Daemon Host dumped them unceremoniously on the floor, their stunned bodies not moving. Dim souls they may contain but they will do for this next phase in the great plan. The Lady Belogaer herself had given the Daemonologist the duty of tracking down the Stewards and sacrificing them to her ingenious Daemon Wells. A duty he thought beneath him at first, but not anymore, there was much to document and learn from the leaching of the souls into the Wells.

The Well in front of him was still, it’s liquid as black as the void and more Scribes had started to join the circle around it. Morde’rya hovered in front of him.

” Do you think you could bleed them when they are consciousss thiss time Magosss. The sscreams you ssee are so very ssstatisfying to me”

Vulmor looked at the Daemon Host. It was a fascinating specimen and one he would love to study more but he knew the Inquisitor with the red hands may object to that.

” Loud sounds are not necessary for this for this procedure. “

The Daemon Host tilted it’s head and shook it with dissatisfaction.

” Sssuch boring consstructs you Mechanicum are. There iss much to learn from the soundss of pain you know. ”

Vulmor thought about this, maybe Morde’rya was right, it was a creature of great power and ancient beyond reckoning.

” We will proceed as you suggest then. Wake them up if you will.”

Morde’rya smiled a sickly smile.

” With pleassure Magoss.”

The Daemon Host looked down at the Stewards and they stirred. Awake they both looked up and realised they were still in hell. The screaming followed soon after and Vulmor decided he quite liked the sound of it after all.

Order of the Black Cross.

The Order of the Black Cross, a small but extremely deadly militant order of the Adepta Sororitas. With bone armour, white robes, pale skin and a large tattoo of a black cross down the length of their faces, they cut a striking and intimidating image. But, by far the most unsettling thing about them is their eyes. They are a milky white. The reason for this is one of their traditions of ascension to full Battle Sister. Upon ascension a battle sister will have a special graft set upon each eye, once healed the eye’s are then tattooed with minute scripture of the Litanies of Faith. It is said that upon waking the script is clear and all encompassing in their vision and it is also said that upon death this is all the sister will see in her final moments.

Sister Resira. Order of the Black Cross

So I’ve finally settled upon a colour scheme and name for my Battle Sisters army. I have also painted my first Battle Sister. Now the problem I have is that they have tattoos of black crosses down their faces. Have you seen how small the battle sisters faces are? Bloody small! This will not stop me though, I am committed! I shall, however ,have to paint all the heads separately as this should make this mission I have inflicted upon myself easier.

All this painting small fiddly stuff made me want to wade in with a brush and get all experimental on something big! That big thing is one of the many Relic Chapel Tank of the Order of the Black Cross. These large relics are of shattered ruins of sacred places. They are given an ancient tracked base, a radiant statue of a Saint placed upon the highest point and go to war covered in Sisters all crying their hatred at the enemy and raining righteous death upon them. The sight of one of these behemoths of Imperial faith rumbling over the fallen and surrounded by purifying fire stirs the sisters to fight on no matter what and once it falls the track unit is recovered and waits for the time another sacred ruin is found.

The Daemon Ink Campaign

Hello ladies and gents! So it’s happened! I’ve found myself inspired enough to finally write up a campaign, last time I did one it was The Chapel event and that was way back in 2017. Time flies and as most of us have ended up with more time I’d thought I create an event again with aim to play it next year, once all this weirdness is over. The invite is for everyone and if you’d like to join me for the actual games when they occur then, as time passes, let me know. Numbers will dictate where it will be held.

The Daemon Ink is an ][nq28 campaign, which will set war bands of either pure intent or corrupted madness against each other as the fight for control of a valuable Fortress Library World of the Inquisition. The name of that planet is Otera.

So this is the setting now lets take a look at some of the characters and NPC’s that populate the libraries of Otera.

Stewards : These guys have already been introduced in the short story Morde’rya. They are the order that attends to the daily running of the vast libraries. The order is split into units. Each unit has it’s own section of the vast library to care for and their knowledge is limited to that section. No Steward can activate the Portals that lead to other sections. Many Stewards have been sacrificed by the Scribes and their masters, but there is hope that some have survived.

Librarians : Keepers of the knowledge. Their wisdom is great and they are the ones who attend to the books, data stacks and scrolls. They have access to all sections of the Library and are very adept at using the Portals. No area is off limits to them. Some seem to have turned to the dark powers and many are missing. The hope is that they are in hiding using their knowledge to keep them safe or they may be taking the fight to their corrupted fellows and joining a war band pure of soul to reclaim the holy library.

Scribes : The corrupted ones. The scribes are the playthings of the dark gods and are the ones who have spread the corruption. It is unknown if any avoided this fate. They gather in groups around their constructed Daemon Wells and chant the corrupting litanies that break the veil allowing daemon spawn to spew forth. Directed by fallen Inquisitors larger groups have been found and truly destructive forces have been unleashed.

I’ve made really good progress on the boards the first of which was the Mag Bellum setup shown here. That set will be used to create parts of the vast sections of the library but first you’ll have to get in.

This is the entrance.

Who will be defending this entrance? That is something you’ll have to wait for. It’s not going to be pleasant though and war bands will have to be smart with how they go about it.

When creating your characters for your war bands please use the guide below.

As a rule no heavy weapons are allowed but I’ll elaborate on the details in a follow up post but for now go get kitbashing!

If you want to take part please be sure to reference this post or use the #thedaemonink

That’s it for now I think, so I’ll leave you with another image of the Entrance board to get the mood flowing. Until next time.

#Top5 and other bits

Hello! It’s Sunday again! My god the weeks fly, I must be having too much fun 😉 On the hobby front that is very true, what with the daily painting sessions and frantic kitbashing blitzes, the Saturday night RPG sessions, which are just the best and a right laugh, to the finishing of long over due projects, it’s all pretty sweet. I do however miss a good old massacre over some lovingly crafted terrain and the socialising that goes with it. These times will happen again to be sure and when they do I will have an abundance of models and terrain to choose from, as I hope you all will too.

So onto things hobby nuts! I was recently asked to do my top 5 on Instagram. Now I don’t usually take part in these sort of things but as it was hobby related I thought I would give it a bash. It was hard!! Really hard! It took me about a week of thinking about it and thinking of all the models I’d done and reasons why they may make the cut. Five is a horrible number for such a thing as, as I’m sure you will agree, painting models, we put so much effort into them and learn so much from doing it that they all have meaning to us. So after it got all too much I took the plunge and below are my top five.

Ok whats up next! A quick project I painted this weekend. A work in monochrome. Really enjoyed painting with such a limited palette and I’m keen to try it on my next Mag Bellum set. This is a Inq28 warband that’s been lying around staring at me looking all depressing in their undercoat begging me to finish them off and I’m glad I did because what I’ve ended up with is quite a striking group that was quick to paint.

Next up we have another war band. Inq28 is getting a lot of love these days! This is the Flawed Saint and her followers of dubious nature.

And last but not least. A big Adepta Sororitas Relic Chapel Tank. This was a bit of a distraction and came about wanting to paint a tank but not owning one so I designed the chassis in CAD and 3D printed it plus a few other parts like the treads and then used a combination of failed prints, random plastic parts and some old used GW scenery to create the rest. The St at the top is also a 3D print and the whole thing was great fun to make.

The aim of this beast is to carry sisters with heavy weapons whilst striking faith into the hordes of fanatics surrounding it and fear to those who oppose it! Armed with 6 heavy flamers it can surround itself in righteous flame whilst a Sister dialogues screams from the pulpit at the head of the beast.

Patreon and me

Hello peeps! As the time goes by and we find that our time at home has been extended I find myself thinking of the future and what would happen if after all the furlough I won’t have a job to go back to. It’s a problem quite a few of us will face and so I’ve been using this time to get my Mag Bellum venture up and running properly. It has taken some time to be sure and I’ve had some good feed back from people so now I feel the time has come. The system works and I would love to share it with you!

The way this will start will be with Patreon. Patreon if you don’t know is site for artists and the like that you can sign up with and for a fee help them continue with their work. You get something for your money and in my case you will get 3D models to print and create your own Mag Bellum boards.

This is what the welcome page will look like with the different tiers available.

As well as Patreon I will be offering a service for those who want the product but don’t have the means to make it. This will take a bit of time to sort out though but I’m thinking along the lines of it being like a commission, so only making two or so orders at a time. So lots to do still but I’m very close to launch and I’ll be updating as I go along on Instagram and here. Well, I think that’s about it for now. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome and I’ll leave you with a few shots of what will be on offer should you choose to support me on this journey.

Cheers guys and gals!

Complete Mag Bellum set

Greetings one and all! So the times get stranger and the hobby gets better! The internet has be awash with awesome, inspirational projects and it’s been a joy to read, look and watch all the great content pouring out of people in these uncertain times. Two thumbs up to you all!

As you can imagine I’ve not been idle and have a few projects on the go, 4 to be precise. The first is my Sanguinala Procession, which you can find here and the second one you can find right here right now! I’m pretty excited about this one as it’s a Inq28 campaign. The Daemon Ink! I am yet to write any lore for it but I have been busy creating one of the boards and that’s whats on show today.

Using a Mag Bellum set I wanted to create one of the many underground libraries, which are, in part, just sections of a larger subterranean labyrinth of colossal size. Being a Mag Bellum board I can create many different setups with it, which will allow me to write a few different scenarios to go with the back ground. First up though lets take a look at the setup of the first board.

Now for the tour! The image heavy section. 🙂

This board was a joy to make and I can’t wait to see war bands dealing death through the haunting halls of the library labyrinth and either working to see The Daemon Ink succeed or fighting hard to stop it.

MAG BELLUM TILES

Hello peeps! Hope you’re all well in hobby land. As for my self I must say I’ve been suffering from a lack of it 😦 and yes it’s the same old culprit we call life and things you must do instead of wanting to do. As important as all that shit is I feel it’s just as important to give time to your interests. My wife calls it the pie of life, and she is correct, one slice should never get too big. So here I am reslicing my pie to much more balanced and enjoyable portions.

As some of you are aware I have been developing a tile system called Mag Bellum. Its magnetic and solid! It’s also been a hard slog, due to pie issues, and I feel I am now ready to give some much needed attention to it. So let’s jump in shall we 🙂

First up you have this selection of tiles.

This bunch is enough to create a 2 x 2 skirmish sized board.

floor plan2x2

Nice! But wait. You can do so much more.

And more!

What about walls? Yep they will be available to and look like this.

As you can see they come as a basic sci- fi design but you will be able to change that by sliding various inserts into place. This one is the Library insert. Door ways and smaller wall sections have also been designed.

All this is in preparation for Salute 2020. I plan to have it in the shop soon and will be documenting my road to Salute so you will see my progress on the designs and what will be available on the day, I’m going to have some terrain pieces to buy and a couple of complete special edition sets.

I will now leave you with some tasty shots of some of the kits you can expect to purchase in the very near future. Cheers! 🙂
