The Entrance w.i.p

Hello all! So as you’ve probably read the awesome dude behind Leadballoony Alex came over last weekend to delve into the realms of the Albino Woods and begin the creation of the ground where many shall meet there doom. Head over to his blog to see the pics of the great “we’re allowed to do our hobby all day” day. Thanks girls! It’s not often I get the chance to indulge in a hobby day like that and to put a face to the blog and meet Alex was a pure pleasure. You’re a top bloke mate!

As Alex mentioned I showed him the progress I’m making on the Entrance board and as he posted pics of the Albino Woods I’d thought I’d share a few snaps of The Entrance.

Enjoy 🙂

SENT][NELS

The Lady Elect and her Sentinels are the wardens of the entrance ways to The Chapel. The Sentinels themselves occupy many of the main and well used entrances and are large imposing machines worthy of the Machine God. Each has it’s own character with some being taciturn while others are brash and some are even morbid. These traits are caused by the long exposure to the entrances for The Chapels fickle ways are at their strongest in these places.

The Lady Elect, Mistress of the Sentinels, High Warden of The Chapel, is a giant of a woman. Augmented to intimidate she stands taller, it is said, than a Space marine reaching half the height of the Sentinels that serve her.

It has been a while since I delved into The Chapel and I’ve really missed it, but, as you are all too aware, life gets a hold of you and drags you kicking and screaming back to reality.

So as you’ve just read, this is the start of The Chapels entrance ways and the groups of augmented guards and quirky monster machines you can find in them. This is a good chance to get all Mechanicum so lets see what robotic horrors you can come up with as Sentinels vary in not only character but looks to. Mine are two brothers, and I’ll be posting the fluff on them in good time, they where inspired by Neil of Opus Maius, who has stopped his blog ( sad day when he did that ) but who you can find on Instagram now under the same name ( a happy day when he did that ) If you read this Neil keep the inspiration coming!

As always the work for this project has been outstanding and the support you guys have shown makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Keep up the good work.

True Scale 1

Today I’d like to share with you a project I’ve been working on for a while now and as the title suggests it’s all about true scale.

For ][nq28 fans the only Space Marine is a true scale one and so I thought I’d turn my hand to making my own and this led to the idea of making it kit like in nature and very poseable.

TS1

So as you can see from the image each part is ball jointed, which will allow it to be posed in a variety of ways and I should be able to achieve some pretty dynamic poses.

TS2

This is just a prototype at the moment and it will need a bit of adjusting but I’m pretty pleased with how it’s turned out so far.

Thoughts welcome as always 🙂

50 + Followers

Hello fellow fanatics!

As the title suggests I’ve hit the 50 followers mark! Yay me! 🙂

So to celebrate here’s another pic of a W.I.P and a big thank you to all of you who are on this journey with me. Your support and inspiration is truely amazing.

The Albino Woods I

Hello all!

Just a few bits today. A couple of pieces of scenery for the Albino Woods board and an extra addition to the Wytch Cult.

First up a Mile Maiden. These can be found in parts of the Albino Woods and are meant to present a mile has been traveled since the last one. Only thing is many have been smashed or weathered away over the centuries so they are not a really reliable measure of distance anymore.

Next is a big pile of rust. Rust is cool! I think this will look great next to IRO’s scenery.

Here is the latest addition to the Wytch Cult. The Flesh Cart. I fancied doing some gore and showing a helpless poor soul pleading for his life before getting stabbed again by the cart Imp.

The Book Ghoul

While most of the ghosts that float around in the depths of The Chapel are hell bent on depriving the living of life The Book Ghoul is only really interested in knowledge.

He can be found in the many libraries of The Chapel scribbling notes with his bone pen and his skull pot of ectoplasmic ink, while muttering to himself on how stupid everyone else is. You see this is his problem, he’s not violent but extremely condescending, patronising and overly insulting to all those he speaks to. So much so that many have walked away doubting their very existence and purpose in life.

If you can suffer him though the knowledge he can bestow is pricless. This leads to his next problem, the fact that he’s so damn hard to find! Because he thinks everyone is stupid and are better off killing theselves, he only likes the company of books and scrolls and information devices. He devours information, sucking it into him like a leech with blood and writing interesting parts down to add to his personal collection. It’s this collection of knowledge that those who have heard of him and seek him out want for it is said to contain the darkest of secrets of the early days of The Chapel from sources that have long since disappeared. This also raises the question of who he once was and how old he really is.

” That acid tongued wretch! How dare he tell me I’m no smarter than a rusted, squashed skull crab!!”

Inquisitor Dahan after meeting the Book Ghoul.

He later died by having a large part of a statue fall on him, which was shaped like a skull.

It’s been a while since I posted and like most people it’s all lifes fault and ghost 4 had been sitting on my bench for a while and so I thought I’d better finish him before my Ostium Guide. I hope you like him.

There is a lot to do still and there is more to come, mysteries about The Chapel to tell and models that you have all greatly inspired me to make. The Chapel is constantly calling and something ancient and evil will soon rise.

Sinful Tiny Things

As well as Ghosts, dysfunctional servitors and the seething mass of humanity that inhabit the depths of The Chapel, you can find the little things that crawl, fly and creep around. They are many, and come in all sorts of appearances but the three main ones to be found are as follows.

From left to right

stt1

The Skull Crab, The Wraith Bat and  The Rat Devil.

All three can be found lurking in the shadows or running freely around and getting under foot or flying in your face and getting the crap scared out of you ( the Wraith Bats like doing this a lot ). A hindrance they can be but they can also be used to great effect.

stt4

Skull Crabs.

The Skull Crab can be found scuttling around fixing things, undoing things, replacing things and stealing things. No one know’s who builds them and there has been some speculation that one skull crab may make another and so on. This is of course an unnerving thought, because what happens when they get too many. Well that has already happened a few times in the history of The Chapel, one time in particular being the east side power plant that got over run with the tiny bastards. They systematicly went about dismantling the whole place and would have succeeded to if it wasn’t for the combined efforts of the worker gangs, which eventually stemmed the tide. A hunt was made soon after for any likely candidate you would have set such a thing in motion but none were found and so it remains a mystery as to why it happened even though it is still believed it was some plot to disrupt.

Another annoying thing about them is that they like to steal doors.

stt2

Wraith Bats.

Think homing pigeon but with the face of death. Yes that’s right these little flying monsters can be very useful for messaging. All they need is a message and a scent and off they go. It’s a talent they are very good at and it has been said that they can even fly through walls, which has never been witnessed so can’t be proven. One thing is certain though and that is they are filthy buggers and crap everywhere, they also have a tendency to fly in your face and scaring the crap out of you and then dropping something on your head, which may be a message or something else entirely.

They make good sport as well and many folk like shooting them.

stt3

Rat Devils.

The Rat Devils, or Rat Watchers as they can be known, are pretty inteligent and have been known to form gangs of their own, even aligning with a worker gang or other who they may benefit from. The reasons for this is usually territory as they don’t like it when the bigger folk start a fight that may result in their warrens being destroyed, if this happens they can get pretty frenzied and summon rather large rats to the cause, so it is not a bad thing to have a warren nearby but you do need to keep an eye on them. Some warrens may get too big and then the need for expansion starts and this often leads to contact with those around them. So homes can be over run, disease runs rampant and people die, which then leads to extermination or culling of their numbers until they retreat back.

You don’t want to feed them either as then they will never leave you alone.

Well that was a fun little part of The Chapel project and I hope the vision of what life is like in the depths is becoming clearer. I will be doing a post on the Albino Woods soon so the setting of the Ostium Guides and the Guild ( Thanks to Alex for that idea ) will take shape as it’s the first game to be played.

Keep the cool ideas coming!

Casper

No one is quite sure what Casper is but one thing is for sure, that everyone in The Chapel worker gangs, who maintain the power and produce energy based items, think he’s a complete arsehole. This view is also shared with all who meet him for Casper has a job to do and that job is to keep people in line and motivated. It is unclear whether Casper was given this task or if he just made it up but one thing is clear, Casper loves it.

Whizzing around in Scrutiny, his well armoured and fast chair of office, he can been seen dishing out judgments and setting penance, giving praise and then taking it back, usually with a whack from is scepter and if you’re really unlucky, or deserving, writing your name in his book.

The book is Caspers favorite thing and if your name is entered into it your life will be changed forever as Casper will harass you for as long as you live. This is of course all for your own good and those with their names written seldom step out of line again for if they do Casper will zap you with Scrutiny’s rather large and powerful gun, reducing you to ash.

casper

Although he’s a menace Casper loves his home in The Chapel and will defend it with his life, protecting those he keeps an eye on in the factories and standing with worker gangs that have a problem with outsiders. It has been known for Casper to come flying into a gang dispute and laying waste to the offending party for he will not tolerate any disrespect to his turf and those who toil under him. The joy of the worker gangs triumph is short lived though as Casper writes all the survivors names in his book blaming them for inviting the conflict into his domain.

The servitor Moon has had many a joyful time giving Casper the wrong info and this has always led to summery judgement on those who don’t deserve it, luckily no one has been zapped yet due to Moon’s lack of caring but like everything in The Chapel, it’s only a matter of time.
