][nquisitor Meridian Gelds Warband

“What is victory? Victory is not just to win and watch your foe limp from the battlefield. No. Victory is the total annihilation of your opponent. Everything and everyone they love, everywhere they’ve been and everyone they’ve influenced. All must be eradicated for you to have victory. Anything short of this and you invite retaliation. In our line of work this must never happen.

We find ourselves on this world because those that claim power over it have strayed from the light. The population they lord themselves over is down trodden and hope is fading fast. Opposition to the rule is quickly stamped out and it’s not done quietly either, the Government seem to think their power is absolute and no one can touch them. They have become drunk on their own greed and corruption, seeing themselves as gods whose words and actions can send millions into destitution. Caring not about the population that ultimately supports them they are power mad and evil. This my trusted friends must be stopped.

We will do what we always do and use whatever means necessary to accomplish our goals and ensure our victory. This world will come back into the fold and will once again prosper for the better of the Imperium as every world is a precious resource that the Imperium can ill afford to loose.

Our duty is clear. Total victory or death.”

This ticks off my first completed Inq28 warband for this year. It’s a pretty good feeling getting something completed this early in the year and I hope it sets the pace for the rest of it. Keeping the palette muted is a big factor in this and it’s a way I will probably paint many of my projects that follow.

Many people have asked me how I did the white so I’m going to share that with you here. It’s mostly drybrushing, which also adds to the speed in which I can get things done.

Primer – Grey Seer

Layer – Administratum Grey.

Drybrush – Grey Seer.

Drybrush – White Scar.

Wash – Soul Blight Grey.

Drybrush – White Scar.

Pretty simple and quick!

A New Year. A New Start.

Well here we are again. A new year has just past us in a flash and it’s time once again to look ahead and make those changes you’ve always talked about and complete those hobby goals you’ve amassed year after year and will no doubt add to again this year. It’s all great fun though and that’s why it was a complete bummer when all hobby mojo left me at the end of last year. This was due to those pesky life problems and a good old dose of depression. But fear not! I am doing fine now and have started to get the hobby juices flowing again.

This post will hopefully layout the projects for this year and hopefully I will stick to them. I’m going to make a good effort in doing so as I think that’s one of the major driving forces for hobby satisfaction, the completion of a project. The projects listed below have all been started or have the models already to start. So here we go!

1: Realm of Warcry Nurgle Warband.

2: Inq28 Warbands. Inquisition and Genestealer Cults. Scenery

3: Horus Heresy Blood Angels.

4: Keeper of Secrets Greater Daemon of Slaanesh

5: Armies on Parade Dark Angles

6: Nobles of the Darkling Wood. Characters and Scenery

7: Frostgrave Warband for BOYL

8: Gorka Morka warbands and terrain

I think it’s a pretty doable list and I’m hoping it stays that way. Time will tell though and as we are all aware it only takes one new release model to throw it all into chaos 🙂

Lets now take look at some models!! Here we have the Inquisitor warband of Meridian Geld. There’s nothing particularly inspired by this group but it is a good old solid warband, with the usual suspects. All that is left to do is add a vehicle and paint them.

Next up we have my Nurgle Champion for Realm of Warcry. The very old and very dirty Bloabech Wormfinger Pallid Reaper of the Effluvient Mire.

Really quite pleased with this one and some of his followers are nearly finished as well. They are a group of Pestigors. Below is his stat card for playing the games.

Last but not least we have The Angels Tears for my Blood Angels Horus Heresy army. Loved these models from the moment they came out and wanted to do a good job on them. I’m quite proud of the red armour.

Well that’s it for now but the aim is to get a few posts done a month so I can document my progress and share wip shots with you all. Until next time!

Road to BOYL I

Hello all!

So I’m off to Boyl this year for my second time and I’ve been busy getting ready for it. I can’t begin to tell you what an awesome trip it is, a few days off work and a weekend of wargame shenanigans, which all kicks off, as it should, with a visit to Mecca ( Warhammer World ) where I shall empty my pockets of all cash and smile from ear to ear as I do it. Then it’s onto the base of operations and a much needed first of many beers. Bliss!!!

Lets take a look at what I’ve painted so far shall we 🙂

First up it’s an Inquisitors war band.

And they will be up against the corrupted genius of this Tzeentch Sorcerer and his trusty thug of a Chaos Marine…….oh and a bunch of Daemons.

The fight will all take place on this board. A library of forbidden lore and portals to the unknown.

Slaanesh War band

Flesh, pain and pleasure! The sadistic lovers of Chaos. SLAANESH!!! Sssaay she who thirsts name with rapture!

So I’ve been adding to my Slaanesh war band the forbidden fruits of which are the subject of this post. This is one of those projects that is on the slow burn and I’m pretty sure, in fact I know, I will be adding more to it over time, I already have a few unopened boxes of Slaanesh goodies in the model draws and The Keeper of Secrets will be mine ( oh yes it will be mine ) very soon.

As projects go it’s been one of exploring new techniques and pushing myself with converting and modeling (CAD and traditional) plus with the release of Contrast paints it has given me the opportunity to do some speed painting, a method I used to do the cultists. All in all then it’s been great fun and some of my most satisfying hobby moments have come from it. May they continue in Slaanesh’s name!

The above images are of the Chaotic war engines of the band. The Impulsor Engine and Rapture missile launcher.

Give praise to She Who Thirsts.

Preacher of SOL

A little post today regarding the the Preachers that travel with my Adepta Sororitas army. The preachers of SOL are a fiery bunch and can be found within the Battle Sisters line shouting the litanies of faith and adding their own voices to the chanting and singing of the sisters around them.

This model was great fun to paint and I made heavy use of the Contrast paints. They are a great addition to the paint range and are extremely good at creating glazes. As for the colour choices, I really wanted the banner to contrast heavily with the grey, drab cloth of the Preacher and yellow does this perfectly. I think he will stand out well on the tabletop. The ruin he’s standing upon is a failed 3D print of a free file I found ( forget where) and was the basis for the whole model. I worked from the ground up!

He’s not been made as a combatant but more like a piece of scenery that will accompany my army. I have a few such models planned. Now I must get around to actually painting some sisters!

Cheers!

Morde’rya

The suppressive glow of haunted green shrouds this place of forbidden knowledge like an artists wash to mute the scene. We have been wandering this Library labyrinth for days now trying to find the cause of the mysterious deaths that have inflicted many of our scribes and still we are no closer to finding……well anything really. Endless shelves of books, scrolls and data stacks populate these halls with powered rooms, who’s techno magic give power to the mysterious portals that can be used to jump from section to section of the vast labyrinth, as long as one knows the correct litanies and codes of course. Such knowledge is forbidden to likes as me for I am just one of the 13 stewards that patrol this particular section. Still we walk on, my companion and I, keeping in vox contact with the others no one has seen a scribe or even a body of one, they must be here somewhere though as it just doesn’t make any sense.

As this thought leaves my mind the vox clicks.

” Found them. Sector 11, near the exiting portal room.”

I respond.

“We are in Sector 10, on our way.”

A noise stops us in our tracks. Coming from the vox unit is a the most awful and creepy sound I have ever heard. Chanting. I look at my companion and share a look of disgust and uncertainty. The vox clicks again.

” They are chanting and standing around what looks like a well. Wait a minute…….. Who are you?! Identify your self?! “

I hear a voice. It sounds like a well educated one and that seems to make things worse somehow.

” My dear stewards you are just in time! Please come and bare your soul to the wonderful work we weave.”

Screams and wet crunching sounds emit from the vox. That’s it for me! I turn to run and am struck back by an unseen force. My companion and I look up from the floor at pure horror made real.

” Greetingsss little sssoul candlesss. Where are you running off to in sssuch a hurry?”

We stare, my companion wets himself, I think I may have to as fear all consuming engulfs us.

” Pleassse excusse me. Where are my mannersss. I am Morde’rya and my masster, for want of a better word, has a usse for you. ”

Morde’rya is the first daemonhost I have created for The Daemon Ink. The look I wanted to achieve was one of age, as if the hosts body is rapidly deteriorating with all the changes the Daemon has made to it and I wanted the tone to reflect that to. Working with a very limited palette I mainly used Contrast paints to get the blend of it’s flowing skin with highlights done in Deepkin Flesh and Pallid Wych Flesh. Glazes of green were applied to give an unhealthy glow. All in all I very pleased with this character and writing a bit of fluff after so long has been fun and I’m looking forward to populating The Daemon Ink campaign further.

Patreon and me

Hello peeps! As the time goes by and we find that our time at home has been extended I find myself thinking of the future and what would happen if after all the furlough I won’t have a job to go back to. It’s a problem quite a few of us will face and so I’ve been using this time to get my Mag Bellum venture up and running properly. It has taken some time to be sure and I’ve had some good feed back from people so now I feel the time has come. The system works and I would love to share it with you!

The way this will start will be with Patreon. Patreon if you don’t know is site for artists and the like that you can sign up with and for a fee help them continue with their work. You get something for your money and in my case you will get 3D models to print and create your own Mag Bellum boards.

This is what the welcome page will look like with the different tiers available.

As well as Patreon I will be offering a service for those who want the product but don’t have the means to make it. This will take a bit of time to sort out though but I’m thinking along the lines of it being like a commission, so only making two or so orders at a time. So lots to do still but I’m very close to launch and I’ll be updating as I go along on Instagram and here. Well, I think that’s about it for now. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome and I’ll leave you with a few shots of what will be on offer should you choose to support me on this journey.

Cheers guys and gals!

Complete Mag Bellum set

Greetings one and all! So the times get stranger and the hobby gets better! The internet has be awash with awesome, inspirational projects and it’s been a joy to read, look and watch all the great content pouring out of people in these uncertain times. Two thumbs up to you all!

As you can imagine I’ve not been idle and have a few projects on the go, 4 to be precise. The first is my Sanguinala Procession, which you can find here and the second one you can find right here right now! I’m pretty excited about this one as it’s a Inq28 campaign. The Daemon Ink! I am yet to write any lore for it but I have been busy creating one of the boards and that’s whats on show today.

Using a Mag Bellum set I wanted to create one of the many underground libraries, which are, in part, just sections of a larger subterranean labyrinth of colossal size. Being a Mag Bellum board I can create many different setups with it, which will allow me to write a few different scenarios to go with the back ground. First up though lets take a look at the setup of the first board.

Now for the tour! The image heavy section. 🙂

This board was a joy to make and I can’t wait to see war bands dealing death through the haunting halls of the library labyrinth and either working to see The Daemon Ink succeed or fighting hard to stop it.

The Sanguinala Procession

Greetings confined ones! I do hope this post finds you deep in hobby joy as the outside world gets weirder. I for one am extremely glad to be part of this wonderful community and the sheer volume of awesome projects being produced is truly amazing. I salute you all! Keep the inspiration flowing good people and we shall get through this strange time together.

So, what have I been up to? A few things actually but today it’s all about the first model for my Sanguinala Procession. This model is the centre of it all, a huge statue of the Primarch Sanguinius being pulled along by a hulking brute while the Blood Cardinal preaches from here pulpit at the front, decaying wings of the Angel splayed out behind her.

The inspiration for this project came from reading the book Vaults of Terra, The Carrion Throne by Chris Wraight. Its an excellent read and I can highly recommend it as it has wonderful descriptions of Terra in it and he nails the feeling of the place perfectly.

Sanguinius model is a 3D print of a free file called Bloody Glorious Hawk-boy by SebTheis. It was perfect for this project, thank you.

Next up will be the dancing girls! Blood skull pom poms here we come 😉
